Gratituesday 1.16.24 - Brrr, it’s Cold!

So here in NYC, we have not seen snow in a while. And many of us have been a little annoyed. But this morning, I needed to head out early and there was indeed snow on the ground. I mean this was the first snow fall that we’ve seen in 700 days. Yippee! However that was not my first thought. Rather when seeing the snow I was annoyed. Brrr, it’s cold!

I mean it was 28 degrees with a mix of snow and freezing rain. Who the heck wants to go out in that? But I grabbed my down coat and my heaviest sweater. Then I started getting excited when I put on my boots and headed out into the cold. Once outside, it was fine. Thankfully I stayed warm with my hat, scarf & gloves. However, it got me thinking…

We cannot have it both ways. I should not be unhappy that it has not snowed, and then equally irritated when it does. There’s that phrase “be careful what you wish you for, lest it come true.” I did indeed look up the origin, and it’s from one of the Aesop’s Fables, but I don’t know which one. But in any case, it’s something to keep in mind. Thankfully I am now home, watching the snow from the window. While I could have been annoyed during my walk this morning, it really wasn’t that bad. As always, it’s more powerful to reflect on the good. Care to join me on my weekly lists? Awesome, I’m happy to go first. Feel free to add yours into the comment section. It’s always open. Let’s go!
