I met Andrea Fischman while performing weddings in Central Park. She’s also attended a number of the ‘Yoga for Wedding Pros’ sessions that I do with folks in the industry. There’s been lots of growth in Andrea’s business in the last few years. It’s super exciting to see her working with emerging photographers while keeping the integrity of her artistry strong. Andrea is a story teller. You certainly see it in the her editorial and advertising portfolios, but you definitely see it in the intimate moments with her wedding couples. It’s been a pleasure to work with her first hand. So without further ado, I am pleased to introduce ANDREA FISCHMAN!
What was the path that led you to become a photographer?
Becoming a photographer was natural to me. I was ALWAYS the one who took photos of my families and friends. When I was a psychology major at Skidmore College, I was drawn to the variety of human feelings and emotions. Particularly, I thought it was fascinating how people express themselves through facial expressions, gestures, postures, and so forth. What is a better way to truly explore this than becoming a photographer? It was a simple decision to make, as I believe in following my passion and my heart.
What excites you about weddings?
The charm of weddings is sensation. I love weddings because they are a blend of different types of emotions – joy, appreciation, and excitement of a new beginning of life, maybe also some fear of the future, and reluctance of letting go the past. It is amazing to be able to document so many different emotions in one day with my camera. What also excites me about weddings is that you never know what to expect. You should always be prepared for something unpredictable – and always bring some extra batteries.
What do you look for in a couple?
When it comes to wedding photography and cinematography, we are not looking for certain types of clients to work with. We would love to focus more on understanding what our couples want, and collaborate with them to create something magical. It is not just about offering them amazing photographs, it is more about the process. Namely, we want to provide a stress-free experience yet still be able to capture all of the special moments during their busy wedding day.
What is the greatest compliment you’ve ever received?
If I had to pick one, there was a couple who once told me, “You’re the heroine of our day.” They said they didn’t notice our team moving around and were surprised that we were able to capture all of the moments. That just made my day.
What do you desire for your business?
Our ultimate goal is to make sure all of our couples can recall their memories from their special day. We are dedicated to making our clients feel special and comfortable working with us. Our team of photographers and cinematographers are easy-going professionals who work seamlessly together, from pre-wedding to after-party, to ensure the highest quality of our services. We also want our studio to be an incubator where wedding photographers and cinematographers can expand their career. I would love our studio to grow further.
What are you grateful for?
I’m grateful that I’m able to photograph and run a wedding studio, which is something that I love from my heart. The tremendous satisfaction that I receive from our clients by fulfilling their needs and making them happy, is just beyond words.
Any recent cause for celebration?
We have been regularly posting some really cool stuff on our blog, as well as our Facebook page. Also, our photographers Kam and Sachi are doing some beautiful work!
