With all of the craziness in my life, I have been all about letting go. I had the opportunity to take not one, but TWO aerial yoga classes this week. In both classes, they stressed the idea that “in order to fly, you have to let go.” Letting go is usually mental and emotional for me, however with aerial yoga, it’s very much physical. In order to do inversions – or poses upside down – you have to release the body. There is also the opportunity to BE ABLE to let go. Releasing your weight into the hammock, you have the ability to let go. It’s a very powerful place to be. And it’s amazing when we have the opportunity to just let go, but we rarely think it’s a positive thing!

I have wanted to play with aerial yoga for a few years. If you’re not familiar, it’s playing with traditional and non-traditional poses using suspended fabric. You give some or all of your weight to the hammock to be able to find balance or release. There was a free trial on ClassPass so I decided to take a few classes that I may never take. Due to a busy week, I didn’t get as crazy as I wanted, but I definitely went out of my comfort zone. I don’t normally do things I can’t do, so as I approached aerial yoga, I needed to embrace being a beginner. That meant I needed to be okay taking a fundamentals class, with everyone knowing I was new, and also FAILING.

Needless to say it was a really great experience. I learned new things, lengthened my spine, laughed heartily and failed without embarrassment. Talk about letting go! Without further ado, here’s the fruit of my reflection – my Weekly Lists. Enjoy!
