Vendors I Love - ERYC PEREZ DE TAGLE

I had the honor of working with Eryc at a recent wedding at The University Club. His energy is so calming and just like the entire team that day - super collaborative. When I finally saw images from the day - wow! He captured the energy perfectly. Catching the important moments, but also the small and quiet ones. Super happy to shine a light on ERYC PEREZ DE TAGLE.

What was the path that led you to become a photographer?

I started my career working as a clothing designer and did that for about 12 years. It was an exciting, but draining industry that unexpectedly forced me to find a hobby and an alternative creative outlet  — photography.

I bought a camera and in the months to follow taught myself the basics. I even took a class at the School for Visual Arts. In the process, I worked on the balance between the technical and the creative. Soon, with the encouragement and interest from my friends to photograph them, I started moonlighting as a photographer. Eventually I left the fashion industry in 2018 to pursue photography full time.

What excites you about weddings?

When photography was just a hobby of mine, I found myself trying to capture my life and the people in my life as I was observing them. I was naturally interested in preserving the authenticity of the subject matter. On the other hand, I spent many years in the fashion industry, doing trend research and looking/studying the visuals created in editorials and ad campaigns.

Weddings are a perfect combination of all this.

I love the raw emotions that an event like a wedding stirs up. Also, I love the pomp and circumstance from the attire to the decor.

What do you look for in a couple?

Whether a couple is introverted or extroverted, I’m looking for trusting collaborators. That means folks with a point of view and overall all *good vibes*.

What is the greatest compliment you’ve ever received?

I recently delivered a gallery to a couple. They said I “have the perfect personality for the job.” I thought that was sweet of them to say. It reminds me that photography is more than just knowing how a camera works and your eye. It’s also about connection, communication and empathy.

What do you desire for your business?

I’m still relatively new to the industry, so what I hope for is continued growth and building relationships with other industry partners.

What are you grateful for?

There are so many different kinds of photography out there for people to choose from, so I’m always grateful and flattered at the positive response folks have to my work, and that people want my perspective to capture such an important moment in their lives.

Any recent cause for celebration?

I always celebrate the end of a really great wedding season. This year I’m celebrating by taking a trip to Japan and the Philippines!
