Vendors I Love: MAE B FILMS

As larger weddings are currently paused, there has been lots of pivoting in the wedding industry. One of my planner colleagues, Modern Rebel was one of first to offer virtual planning. They compiled a great list of vendors so their couples would be able to create a lovely and unique experience. I saw a videographer on the list that I didn’t know. I decided to reach out to Nikki and say hello. It was clear that she was a passionate filmmaker and that truly reflected in her work. Her short elopement and proposal films are like music videos and they made me smile. I can only imagine the pure joy the couples experience when they watch theirs for the first time. Without further ado, here’s Nikki Miller of Mae B Films!

What was the path that led you to become a videographer?

I studied documentary filmmaking in college. I love non-fiction storytelling! Fast-forward to me becoming pregnant with my daughter, I wanted a career that would allow me to continue filmmaking but also have a schedule flexible enough for me to stay home with my child. I entered the wedding industry and haven't looked back since.

What excites you about weddings?

Working with my couples. The time I get to spend with them, and getting to know them in the weeks and months leading up to the wedding, is always so special to me.

What do you look for in a couple?

I love working with couples that aren't afraid to be themselves on their wedding day. Couples that don't get caught up in the wedding status-quo but rather create an event that truly embodies who they are and their love.

What is the greatest compliment you’ve ever received?

If one of my wedding films can make a total stranger cry, to me, that's the greatest compliment I could receive. Because that tells me I nailed the story. Regardless of age, race, gender, socio-economic status and so many other factors, at the core we're all the same. And as human beings we all can relate to one another's experiences. Good story can cut through all the differentiating factors and touch us in a ways that connects us all.

What do you desire for your business?

I desire to continue collaborating with couples that value my style of storytelling.

What are you grateful for?

I'm grateful for the love of my family and friends. I'm grateful that God loves me. I'm grateful for every single day I have on this planet. I'm grateful for the ancestors that watch over me. I'm grateful to the people who have seen and continue to see something in me and therefore blessed me with opportunities. I'm grateful for my failures, because I've learned so much from them, as well as my victories. I'm grateful for so much, and could go on and on!

Speaking of which, any recent victories?

I recently had one of my couple's wedding films featured in "Vogue!

I am not able to post any of Nikki’s awesome videos.
