4 Ways to Show Off Your Personal Style at your Wedding
Brides and grooms regularly express their desire to make their wedding day personal and special. While I specialize in customized wedding ceremonies, I certainly see personal touches throughout all of the weddings I perform. While magazines may tell you differently, there are tons of things you DON'T need. However, here are a 4 ways to show off your personal style at your wedding. If you need more guidance, let me know!
Ceremony Programs
A wedding program is often one of the first design elements that your guests see at your wedding ceremony. Since most couples want short & sweet ceremonies, I tend to limit what I say in the ceremony. Therefore, sometimes it’s easier and more efficient for it to be written so your guests get important information as they wait for the ceremony to begin. You can also introduce your family members & bridal party or add a reading that everyone can say together! While I’ve seen my share of booklets, you can simplify and do a two-sided card! There is also seeded paper to make it even more eco-friendly!
Signature Cocktails
This is a great way to feature seasonal flavors, and your personal tastes! There’s nothing more festive after the ceremony than seeing a trays of delicious cocktails (or mocktails!) Your bartender or caterer should have tons of suggestions, if you don’t have a “go-to” drink. Add a colorful paper straw or juice that matches your colors. If you're going to 1 or 2 signature cocktail, you should make sure it's something your friends & family will like. That way there will be little waste! If you choose something too unique or trendy people may take a sip, leaving an almost full drink as they go back the bar for something else.
Fun Table Names
If you’re doing assigned tables or seats, it’s certainly easier to put numbers on the table. But what’s the fun in that? Allow your friends and family to know what’s important to you (or give them a reminder). Love sports? How about some teams? Like to cook together? How about a list of dishes or herbs? Are there places you’ve traveled or musicians you love? Great, make a list! Replacing numbers with names will certainly show off personal preferences and share your story!
Plans for your Send Off
Exits are just as important as entrances, as it's one of the last things your guests experience! While you certainly want your guests to have such an amazing time that they don’t want to leave, your wedding does have to end. As you recess from your ceremony, do you want guests to blow bubbles or throw lavender? As you leave the reception, do you want to walk through sparklers? Have everyone release Chinese lanterns? Be escorted home (or to your hotel) in a fancy car? Again, this can be simple, yet memorable.
Have you decided to do any of the ideas mentioned? Is there anything else you’re doing to add your personality to your Big Day? Feel free to share your suggestions and questions in the comments below!
