Wedding planning and the actual wedding day itself can be stressful. The ancient practice of yoga is known for bringing calm and focus to the body and mind through breath and movement. Don't believe me? Check out this article on the Huffington Post or this one from the Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine. Yoga for Weddings can help brides, grooms and their family and friends relax and celebrate. It's also great for meeting their fitness goals and grounding themselves in the present. All of these things lead to deeper enjoyment the momentous occasion.

Here are some ways to add yoga either in the weeks or months leading up to your wedding day. Or in the morning of the Big Day itself!

SOLO PRACTICE

The rite of passage of marriage may bring up questions of identity. A private session will give you a chance to ask questions about alignment and specific poses. With deep breaths and intentional movement, let go of the past and the life you led as a single person, and step into your new role as wife or husband.

PARTNERS PRACTICE

Embrace the changes in your lives as a soon-to-be married couple. By creating a shared experience, the poses in couples yoga allow you and your partner to listen to each other and work together. Couples yoga is also a playground of intimacy, as we play with the power of touch in balance and twisting poses. From stretching your levels of trust to strengthening your communication, partner yoga can have a positive affect on your relationship that extends far beyond the physical.

PRACTICE WITH YOUR POSSE

A yoga class with your close friends and family members is a beautiful time to bond, breathe and move together. Along with the wedding party, you can embrace the energy in the body and find ease in the mind. A wedding yoga session will ground and center the group so you can all better enjoy the wedding festivities. If the schedule is already full on the wedding day, you can always add a session at the Bachelorette Party or before the rehearsal dinner!

In New York or the Tri-State area? I'm happy to lead an in-person Wedding Yoga practice. And now through the power of video conference, I can also customize a practice just for you wherever you are. Let me know how I can help you find calm and focus, and have a lot of fun around your wedding!
