Gratituesday 6.23.20 - The New Normal

Gratituesday-7.png

I could easily go a few days without leaving my apartment. Since I work primarily from home, if I didn’t have to leave, I didn’t. With COVID-19, as we sheltered in place, we were forced to stay inside weeks if we didn’t need to leave. I am proud to say that I’ve finally entered the new normal. Automatically grabbing my mask, and heading out into the world without fear.

Today, I actually headed out TWICE. Once in the morning to vote at my new polling place, and then in the afternoon to pick up some hangers someone was giving away. I walked east on 125th Street where I saw a BLM march and then stopped into Whole Foods where there was no line. On the walk back uptown, many of the restaurants on Lenox created outdoor seating. Diners were happily eating in the sunshine out of their to-go containers. The streets were bustling, and stores are re-opening. We’re starting to find our new normal, as we are constantly reminded to wear our masks and stay 6’ apart. Many do, many do not.

As I step out, I do so from a new place. With knowledge of a pandemic and death. With eyes wide open to the inequality in the world. And with hope for this new normal. I continue to reflect and share. Care to join me? The comment section below is wide open to ask your questions, send some encouragement and add your own lists. Let’s go!
