Vendors I Love: ARCH EVENTS

I met Monica as we talked about an upcoming fall wedding. As I got to know her, and saw the way she and Allyson worked, I knew that we shared similar thoughts about what we value in weddings. They are super fun, super creative and really take care of their couples. Without further ado, I’m so excited to shine a little light on Monica O’Connor and Allyson Horn of ARCH EVENTS!

What was the path that led you to become planners?

We both started in very different spheres. Monica began her career in the Hamptons, planning for a high-end wedding and events firm and learning from some of the best in the business. Allyson started her events career working on large scale productions in NYC like Billboard’s Women In Music Awards, The CFDA Awards, The International Emmy Awards & The American Theatre Wing Gala, amongst many more. We met when our paths crossed in 2019, when we were both working for Dish Food & Events, a catering company based in Brooklyn. We love those guys so much. We became fast friends, in addition to being colleagues. I always joked that we would open a planning company one day. When the pandemic began in March 2020, we both were furloughed from our jobs. That summer, we decided that "one day" was right then, and we're moving into our second official year of business as Arch Events. It's been a trip!

What excites you about weddings?

There are very few things which compare to the feeling of sending a couple down the aisle on their wedding day. It is our greatest joy to know that we are a part of making magic on what is the most important and meaningful day of a couple's life up to that point.

What do you look for in a couple?

We love people who match our energy. Couples who are open to creativity and new ideas and would like to have fun in the process. We want our clients to feel like they're working with friends who know how to get things done!!

What is the greatest compliment you’ve ever received?

AH: We had the privilege of working at the Central Park Boathouse this past October. When the set up was completed, the manager told us the venue had never looked better, and we lost it. It's an iconic venue in our favorite city, and we were over the moon about the event. It meant so much to us to hear that!

MO: A past client of ours has truly become one of our dearest friends. That in itself is an honor. But the greatest compliment was when I walked into the bridal suite the morning of her wedding and all of the bridesmaids and her friends cheered, "Monica! We've been waiting to meet you, we love you already!" I hadn't met any of them before that moment, and it meant so much. It also set such a good tone for the day.

What do you desire for your business?

We love what we do, and we hope that as we grow, we keep this same initiative and excitement and spark that prompted us to begin in the first place.

What are you grateful for?

AH: Monica, for sure.

MO: Allyson, of course! We've got such a fun ying/yang thing going, which makes everything really, REALLY fun.

Any recent cause for celebration?

We booked our very first destination wedding in CABO! Let's manifest more international weddings, please!!!!
