Gratituesday 10.20.20 - Quarantine Fatigue

gratituesday-quarantine-fatigue.png

I’ve been hearing the term “quarantine fatigue” a lot lately. It refers to just how tired people are about being locked inside for so long. I’ve heard it referenced recently around the election and current views on the pandemic. However, when I just looked it up, the first articles appeared in MAY! Not even 2 months into COVID! Gosh, if only we knew what we were in for.

Needless to say, like many of you, I am tired! I’m tired of wearing a mask, of having a pandemic affect my work and my social life. But more than that, I am exhausted by those who conduct their lives as if there is no virus. Failing to wear a mask on the subway or in large groups. Or heck gathering in large groups to begin with. While our president keeps promising a vaccine in the next few weeks, we all know that we’re not going to see one until the beginning of next year, and then it will need to be distributed. In the meantime, the infection and death rates keep going up. And with winter coming, we’re forced to stay in our own homes.

For me, I definitely experienced fear and confusion in May. Now, I certainly am fatigued. But through the negativity, it’s important to recognize all that is good in the world - or at least our lives. Cue my Weekly Lists. Care to join? Awesome. I’ll start. The comment section is open to add your thoughts and your own lists. Let’s go!
