Gratituesday 11.10.20 - Beginning of the End

Fall is a time of change. In the grand scheme of the year, it’s the beginning of the end. 2020 has been a tough one. The change of season brings great change, however there are lots of shifts. First off it’s been unseasonably warm here in NYC. I am certainly not complaining, as we can still dine alfresco and many of my fellow New Yorkers were out in force over the weekend. Which brings me to #2 the election results. We got the amazing news that Joe Biden will be our next President. My Harlem neighborhood erupted in cheers and shouts and banging on pots on Saturday morning. Yes, there were a few expletives about our current President as I strolled around the block, but another bit of joy in a difficult year. Thirdly, I heard from one of my wedding couples that one of the clerk’s offices is offering video weddings. This one is a little less jubilant since I was counting on virtual weddings to get me through the winter. But it looks like the tide is turning.

In all three cases, we’ve reached a turning point. The end of outdoor activities as the pandemic rages and we’re forced back inside. The end of a tumultuous Presidency, where the country is more divided than ever. And the end of options for income for me and my fellow officiants.

But as we all know, when one door closes, another opens. We need to embrace change and new beginnings - even stubborn Taureans like myself. This time is ripe for reflection, yes? Care to join me? I’ll start. And of course, the comment section is open to add your own!
