Gratituesday 6.21.22 - In the Know

Communication is very big for me. Before weddings, I reach out to everyone involved in the ceremony in some way. I like to make sure everyone is in the know. That way we are all knowledgeable about the ceremony as a whole, as our individual parts. I also like to think if we are all on the same page, we can better take care of our couple.

But I have more recently considered letting things go. Deciding when to NOT share information. I am a very curious person, and in my youth I needed to know EVERYTHING. As I’ve matured, I’ve realized that no, I really don’t. So now it’s a balance…deciding when it’s important to have and share information, and when it’s not.

I am currently reading Tim Ferriss’ book, ‘The 4-Hour Workweek’. One of the challenges he offered was to not take in the news for 15 days. So no newspaper, no TV news shows, no radio. I am not a huge news junkie, but it was part of my nighttime ritual to read the news on my iPad before bed. Ferriss’ claims that not being in the know about current or news events will not change our lives at all. That may be true, but I do feel that I’d like to be connected to the world some way. Will it change my life? Probably not. But I like watching Seth Meyer’s ‘Closer Look’ segment the next day, or listening to ‘The Daily’ podcast or skimming the news before bed.

Again, balancing what I need to know, and what I don’t.

This reflection gives way to looking at my weekly gratitudes, celebrations and desires. Care to join me? Awesome. I’ll go first. The comment section is always open to share or question or add your own. Let’s go!
