Let’s Celebrate VALENTINE’S DAY

Despite the fact that many people consider Valentine's Day at "Hallmark Holiday," the tradition has a detailed (yet questionable) history. Whether or not the idea of Valentine's Day makes you giddy or groan, here are some fun things to do to celebrate with your mate, your friends or even to do something special for you - even during a pandemic!

Just for You

Buy Yourself Flowers
Sure, it’s nice to receive flowers from others, but if you really want them, pick up a bunch. A few stems or a simple bouquet really brightens any room. And it’s always nice to surround yourself with a little beauty.

Engage in Self-care with an Epsom Salt Bath or a Face Mask (you too, guys!)
Spending a little time care for ourselves gives us the love we deserve. Epsom salts (aka magnesium sulfate) create a wonderful soak for your body. You’ll absorb some of the magnesium through you skin to help relax your muscles, and the baking soda neutralizes acids on the skin and dissolves oil and perspiration. There are also a ton of face masks available at your local drug stores. Or heck, make one yourself!

Order in a Fancy Meal
Restaurants are struggling during this time. There are plenty of take-out options, and some are offering special menus for Valentine’s Day. While delivery services are popular, it may be best to call the restaurant directly to place your order. That way they can avoid high fees.

With Your Friends

Go on a Long Walk or Hike
Pretty self explanatory. Throw on your mask, head outside and get some fresh air!

Host a Virtual Cocktail Party or Game Night
I know these were popular when lock down first started. However, is it time to host another virtual gathering? This is especially good for friends or family members who live further away. Come us with a fun cocktail or cocktail that everyone can make. And in terms of game nights, Jackbox and HouseParty are 2 great options.

Binge Watch a Show or Movie Together
There are a few services and apps that allow you to stream shows and movies and watch as a group. The bigger question is deciding what to watch!

With Your Mate

Be a Tourist in Your Own City
Since tourism is down all over the world, this is a great opportunity to visit locations in your own city. What have you not seen in a while? Are there places you’ve put off touring? There’s a good chance these touristy spots will be quiet and you will have the place to yourselves!

Cook a Fun Meal Together
You may want to divide and conquer with one of you choosing the recipe and the other doing the grocery shopping. However, cooking together is a sensual and soothing experience. You can always get some ideas from this list of aphrodisiac foods to help you menu plan!

Ask Each Other 36 Questions
This list of questions is recommended to accelerate intimacy in the relationship. And building emotional intimacy is a great way to deepen physical intimacy. Just sayin’.

Do any of these sound exciting? Anything I should add to this list? Are you a Valentine’s Day lover or hater? The comment section is always open below for thought, questions or suggestions!
