Vendors I Love: BRITTANY WARD from MODERN REBEL
I have the amazing opportunity to work with some of the best in the wedding industry here in New York. I met Amy Shack Egan from Modern Rebel a few years ago working on a wedding at The Brooklyn Botanic Garden. And thankfully our paths kept crossing! I love the way Modern Rebel celebrates inclusivity, community and like me, views the union of two people from a holistic place. It’s not just about the party, but it’s important to celebrate and strengthen the relationship! The Modern Rebel team have dedicated minds and are doing powerful things! This year, I had the honor of working a few times with Brittany, as she really has become the queen of the virtual wedding! I appreciate her attention to detail and general care around each of the moving pieces. Without further ado, I’m excited to shine the spotlight on BRITTTANY WARD!
What was the path that led you to become a wedding/event planner?
My background is in fashion wholesale marketing, but I planned fashion events and trade shows along the way. When it came to planning my own wedding, and hiring Modern Rebel to coordinate, I knew I found a new passion and I wanted to dive in.
What excites you about weddings?
Seeing the vision a couple has for their day come to life. And of course assisting them along the way to make that happen. And cake! :) Who doesn’t love cake?

What do you look for in a couple?
That their values align and mesh with ours at Modern Rebel. I love working with couples that want to shake up or "disrupt the wedding industry" and go for the non-traditional - whether that's walking down the aisle to a Drake song or having a karaoke machine instead of a DJ or band. Having an intentional approach to planning is also great and being mindful of the vendors they are selecting to work to create their vendor team.
What is the greatest compliment you’ve ever received?
That I made a couple’s day "the best day ever!" is always great to hear! It's also nice to receive compliments from the family and friends who can see how hard we work to make sure everything runs smoothly.
What do you desire for your business?
To work with diverse couples and vendors of all backgrounds to produce events with a purpose. This goes back to couples having an intentional approach to their planning. We love working with vendors that highlight all types of people while being mindful of social and political issues.
What are you grateful for?
The awesome people that Modern Rebel attracts! The diverse group of couples that we get to work with and that trust us to help plan their love parties. It's always a plus when those work relationships turn into friendships, too!
Any recent cause for celebration or a recent victory?
Virtual weddings! So happy to continue the celebrations during the pandemic and assist couples in getting married and celebrating their partnerships. It's been awesome to allow couples, families and their friends to still come together virtually from all over the world during this time!
