Vendors I Love: CHAZ CRUZ Photographers
It’s been a few years since I’ve worked with Chaz. However, when our paths finally crossed again at a recent wedding at Wythe Hotel, I remembered just how wonderful he is as a collaborator. And of course his photos are just top notch! Without further ado, here’s my interview with CHAZ CRUZ!
What was the path that led you to become a photographer?
When I was in college, I was studying to be a graphic designer. I realized quickly that it wasn't the path that I wanted to take. While searching for what I wanted to do, I ended up taking a photography class which sparked my love for the medium. After graduating college, I went to study at a technical photography school to hone my skills.
What excites you about weddings?
Even after almost 18 years of capturing weddings, it's still the people that excite me. It's just one of the funnest days to be a part of. To see how joyful folks can be is what keeps me pumped.
What do you look for in a couple?
Honestly, folks who aren't afraid to be themselves at their wedding. I know there can be a lot of pressure to make it feel perfect or to follow a tradition or trend. But I'd rather capture people who create a space that feels safe and authentic to who they are as people.
What is the greatest compliment you’ve ever received?
It's still one I hear a lot, luckily, "You made that feel easy!"
What do you desire for your business?
To keep growing my team and also myself. Both in the business, as well as, to keep being creative.
What are you grateful for?
That I'm still working a lot! Keeping good relationships within the NYC wedding community while living in Mexico is hard to upkeep. But I'm glad I'm able to by being able to see great friend-ors whenever I'm photographing.
