Gratituesday 2.18.25 - Live from New York!
When I was a child I thought everyone lived in NY. I mean I knew other places existed (and one set of grandparents lived in Florida), but we have a limited mindset when we’re young. So it was a paradigm shift to realize that people were not familiar with New York, nor had any desire to live here for visit. Needless to say I am a proud New Yorker. Even when I lived in Atlanta and the Bay Area, people knew I was from NY. But over the weekend, I took a deep dive and watched a lot of the SNL 50 programming. Yes, it was all Live from New York!
I started watching SNL in Season 8 or 9. My parents had date night most Saturdays so, I think my brother and I watched a bit with a babysitter. Or maybe we taped it on the VCR and watched it the next day. In any case, I started to learn about humor and impressions, satire and the news. Sure some of it was not appropriate for a child, but I’m sure lots of it went over my head.
However, seeing the old bands and old sketches was very nostalgic. And of course, nostalgia brings a whole lot of reflection. Cue up my weekly lists. A bit of gratitude, celebration and desire. Care to join me? Cool! I’m happy to start. The comment section is always open to add your own. Let’s go!
