I met Marcus working on a wedding in Brooklyn a few months ago. I really appreciated his energy and his willingness to collaborate. And his selections for cocktail hour were certainly on point! Without further ado, I’m so excited to shine a little light onto MARCUS HO!

What was the path that led you to become a DJ?

I started DJing when my father helped build a club in Seattle for one of his overseas friends. The early 90s were quite a buzz of activity in Seattle, with a big music scene and raves popping up everywhere. I was underage, but desperately wanted to be a part of the exciting nightlife that was to ensue.

After pestering management at the club to allow me to work, we found an obscure law that allowed "Performers" to work in an over 21 establishment. So, I was put in the DJ Booth to run the lightshow. A local celebrity DJ worked there on the primary nights and took me under his wing to mentor me. I quickly went from practicing in my bedroom to carrying residencies Thursday through Saturday in Belltown and the Seattle area in its Nightlife Heyday, whilst DJing Raves around the Greater Seattle Area.

What excites you about weddings?

I am an actor by trade, as well as a DJ. I just love the collaborative nature of a wedding. I find a greater sense of purpose and gratification to be of service to a couple or family on such an important life event. I am always moved by the ceremony and vows. There's something about commitment to aspire and to love that binds all of us.

What do you look for in a couple?

I enjoy couples that have a natural curiosity and collaborative nature. I always invite my clients to be as involved as they want. I invite them to be frank and comfortable coming to me with any ideas, questions or adjustments. Even on the day of the wedding. From when we begin to work together to the day of the wedding; a sense of mutual trust and safety is my goal.

What is the greatest compliment you’ve ever received?

My greatest compliments are when the dance floor is PACKED, the Bride and Groom are dancing up a storm, along with their guests. The affirmation is consistent and ongoing.

What do you desire for your business?

A full calendar and someone to invent lighter speakers!

What are you grateful for?

Just about everything! This past year strengthened my discipline to find silver linings and gratitude in just about every situation; past present and looking into the future. Ultimately: My family and our health.

Any recent cause for celebration?

There's always a cause for celebration. Big or small events. It's the little ones throughout the day that sustain me. Just a little pause to recognize and quietly celebrate. That keeps the wind in my sails.
