Zen Weddings: ENVISION YOUR WEDDING DAY

When I meet with brides & grooms to talk about their wedding ceremony, I ask them to describe their wedding day. It helps me figure out how the ceremony fits in to what they envision. And when the time comes for me to create a unique and meaningful ceremony for them, it gives me a great starting point.

While it’s super helpful for me, it’s even more powerful for my couples. It truly allows them to create the full day they want. By planning how the day starts, they are able to release any stress and create a Zen wedding experience. You can too!

You (or your wedding planner) may have created a timeline may starts with getting dressed or a hair and make-up team arriving. However what I am asking you to envision is how does your day START?

So, do me a favor. Close your eyes and imagine the morning of your wedding. You may want to record yourself with the prompts below, so you can keep your eyes closed. Or you can read each question and then close your eyes and let your imagination go. Once you fully explored the question, move onto the next one.

Here are some questions to ask yourself:

  • You wake up on the morning of your wedding, where are you? And who is there with you?

  • What do you see and hear around you? What do you smell?

  • What is the FIRST thing you want to do?

  • How do you want to feel? Or what is the desired energy? What’s ONE thing you can do to achieve that?

Now write it down. Be specific and detailed. And allow yourself to be surprised.

Why are these important?

Your responses will allow you to create the day you want. How you start your day informs your ENTIRE day. Planning what you want and removing what may bring anxiety and keep you from being Zen.

So, if you envision waking up at home alone, you will need to figure out the logistics of your partner sleeping elsewhere the night before. If the first thing you smell is fresh coffee and baked muffins, how do you arrange that? If you need a little motivation to get you going, perhaps you want to start your day with something physical. So, that may mean grabbing one of your groomsmen or bridesmaids and going on a run or a hike.

These things are just as important as getting ready and taking photos. So make sure you add them to your schedule or let your planner know. Your wedding day is a monumental day. If you want to have a Zen wedding, it’s vital that you create a strong foundation with planning the morning you want.

Which of these ideas most resonate with you? Did anything you envision surprise you? And of course, I’m happy to guide you through a meditation to help you envision and plan. The comment section is always open or you can reach out to me directly.
