Gratituesday 6.29.21 - Closing Doors, Opening Doors
I was going to title this post, The End of an Era, but that felt a little much. There are lots of endings right now, but of an ERA? I don’t think so. At least not until COVID is officially behind us. However that doesn’t mean there isn’t a ton of activity. Closing doors and opening doors.
How to be a Zen Bride: PLAN FOR THE FUTURE
Are you ready for the day AFTER your wedding? The wedding is special, but it's only one day. Marriage is hopefully for life. So I invite you to take a pause from planning to prepare for your marriage. I promise that if you know what’s important to you both and feel empowered as a team, you will find Zen and ease as you plan your Big Day.
Gratituesday 6.8.21 - The Power of Kindness
I joined my friends Jenny and Meg for the middle week of their almost 3-week Kindness Tour up the eastern seaboard. I’ve never traveled in an RV, and I’d never been to Maine. Honestly, I didn’t know what to expect.
Vendors I Love: Bree Swartz of BLOSSOM EVENTS
I met Bree working on a wedding few years ago and I really appreciated her gentle care of the couple and collaborative approach. While Blossom Events has grown over the last few years, I really want to give a shout out to their amazing leader. Without further ado, I’m excited to shine a light on BREE SWARTZ!
Wedding Yoga: THE SACRAL CHAKRA
I refer to the chakras regularly in my yoga classes. In fact, they are the foundation of my wedding yoga practice. Yes, they can be a little ‘out there,’ but I have seen some a-ha moments using them with even some of my premarital counseling couples. Today I’m talking about the second chakra - Svadhisthana.
Gratituesday 5.25.21 - Mind Body Connection
My business practice is centered the holistic connection between the body, mind and soul. However, the integration is not complete. My yoga practice encompasses all 3, but the officiating and counseling do not.
Vendors I Love: DANCE TOGETHER NYC
After a lovely conversation with Simone, we realized that there are so many similarities in what we do even if the medium is different. I am super excited to shine a light on dance teacher extraordinaire, SIMONE ASSBOECK of DANCE TOGETHER NYC.
Gratituesday 4.27.21 - Releasing Expectation
I was always a great yoga teacher for beginners, because I mastered the beginner poses. Things shifted when I realized that I could teach things I couldn’t do. I was able to release the expectation of my teaching practice and challenge my students in new and different ways. It should come as no surprise that it’s not always possible to practice what you preach.
You’re Engaged! Now what?
Your partner asked a very important question - and you said YES! Once the initial excitement wears off, and you’ve dabbed your tears of joy, it may be unclear what to do next. I guide couples from the “Yes” to the “I Do,” so I suggest you get on the same page with your partner as you prepare for marriage!
Vendors I Love: JUSTIN McCALLUM PHOTOGRAPHY
I worked with Justin on a wedding in 2018. Over the years I have come to adore the authentic joy he brings to his work. I also appreciate his thoughts on making the wedding day and the planning leading up to the Big Day as stress-free as possible. Without further ado, I’d love to shine a mighty bright light onto Justin McCallum!
Strengthening Relationships: The Power of Curiosity
Occasionally in premarital counseling I get a couple that asks the open ended question, “What do we need to know?” I usually keep the answer brief and say that in order to build a strong relationship, you need the 2 C’s - Communication and Connection. However recently, I added a 3rd C - Curiosity.
Gratituesday 4.13.21 - Peace and Quiet
New York City is loud! When the city went into lock down last March, it was so strange to see images of usually busy locations totally empty. There was peace and quiet, and it was disconcerting. A year later, the city is back to its regular bustle. People are out and about, and it’s noisy again!
Vendors I Love: PASSION BY KAIT
I met Kait at a Tuesdays Together meeting early in 2019. After introductions, we both looked at each other and knew we needed to connect. Intimacy is one of my Big Issue topics in premarital counseling, however, my genius only goes so far. So, if a couple needs to take a deeper dive, I send ‘em to Kait.
Wedding Yoga: The ROOT CHAKRA
I don’t remember when I first encountered the chakras, but I use them regularly in my yoga classes. In fact, they are the foundation of my wedding yoga practice. Let’s cut through the ‘woo-woo’ and get acquainted from the bottom to the top - starting with THE ROOT.
Vendors I Love: SB BEAUTY
I met Sharon as fellow members of the New York City WIPA chapter, as well as when I occasionally visited her BNI chapter. You could always hear her excitement, passion and skill when she spoke about her business. Without further ado, I’m happy to spotlight, Sharon Becker of SB Beauty!
Wedding Ceremonies: CEREMONY PROGRAMS
One of my Fall couples just reached out to talk about the logistics of their wedding. They wanted to know about the sequence of a ceremony because they are considering adding a Ceremony Program. They wanted to get my thoughts, so here’s what I told them.
Vendors I Love: METROPOLITAN PLAYERS
I met Erin in my local Tuesday’s Together group and share her sentiment about weddings being so special. This is a time where a specific group gathers to support a couple - and that needs to be honored and celebrated! Music has the power to do that! Without further ado, I am excited to shine a light on ERIN COLES of THE METROPOLITAN PLAYERS!
Zen Weddings: Limiting Opinions
Planning a wedding can be both exciting and overwhelming. It will also teach you many important lessons - how to host a major event, who in your life has your back, and the need to limit opinions. The second you share that you’re engaged, there’s a good chance friends and family will offer their thoughts, whether you want to hear it or not.
Gratituesday 3.16.21 - Ready for Spring!
After a LONG year, we’ve also had a tough winter. I can finally feel a change in the air, but gosh, I am ready for Spring! There is a sense of possibility and hope at the end of Winter. However after the dumpster fire that was 2020, I think we can all use some hope and possibly, don’t you?
Guest Post: Prenups Made Easier with Mediation
When we think of two people coming together to become one, our initial images may be poetic. However when you look at the logistics of HOW to do it, things may get a bit more complicated. Enter Alnoor and Ehsan from Venn Meditation.
